#T.E.A.C.H. requires all candidates pursuing admission to the program to provide evidence of the following:

Admissions Requirements

​

  • Official Transcripts with proof that you meet one the options below.

      • International Transcripts - (Evaluation Required)

        • SpanTran is our recommended international transcript evaluation service. They have created a custom application for T.E.A.C.H. will make sure you select the right kind of evaluation at a discounted rate. You can access their application here: SpanTran Application - T.E.A.C.H.

  • Elementary Education (K-6) & Secondary (6-12)  

    • All applicants must submit a complete application AND meet one of the following:

      • Baccalaureate degree from an accredited postsecondary educational institution with a grade point average of at least 2.95 on a 4.0 point scale;

  • If your GPA is below a 2.95, you can still be admitted via our cohort GPA Method by completing a virtual interview or responding to a set of Admissions Questions

    • Virtual Interview or Response to Admissions Questions 

      • There are 10 questions that we would like for you to answer.  You have the option of responding via our online form OR you can answer the questions during a Virtual Interview. If you select the virtual interview option, you have 1 minute to answer each question.​ Casual dress for the interview is acceptable - we just want to get to know you and your thoughts about education and teaching 😊.

Prior to receiving your Alternative Teaching Certificate (not required for admission), you must also: â€‹â€‹

​

  • Option A - Arizona Exam: A passing score on the AEPA/NES Subject Knowledge Exam in the requested subject area for Secondary or Elementary Education Subtest I & II, (NT102 & NT 103) for Elementary.

​

  • ​​Option B - Out-of-State Exam: A passing score on a substantially similar subject knowledge exam from another state.

​

  • ​​Option C - Degree in the Subject: A Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate degree in the desired subject area for Secondary or in Elementary Education for elementary. Degree must be from an regionally accredited institution.

  • ​​Option D - Teaching Experience: Verification of three years of full-time teaching experience in any state, including Arizona, in a Self-Contained, K-8 classroom for Elementary or 6-12 classroom in the appropriate subject area for Secondary.

    • To qualify for a waiver of an AEPA/NES exam in the subject areas of Science, Social Studies, Mathematics, or English the three years of full-time teaching experience must be in grades 9-12.

    • Experience teaching in a foreign school does not meet this requirement.

    • Experience as a substitute teacher does not meet this requirement.

Prior to receiving your Standard Professional Teaching Certificate you must also: 

​

  • Meet the Professional Knowledge Exam Requirement by meeting one of the following:

    • Option A - Arizona Exam: A passing score on the AEPA/NES Professional Knowledge - Elementary Education (NT051) or Secondary Education (NT052).

    • Option B - Out-of-State Exam: A passing score on a substantially similar professional knowledge exam from another state.

    • Option C - Teaching Experience: Three years of full-time teaching experience in any state, including Arizona, in grades K-8 for Elementary or 6-12 for Secondary..

      • Experience teaching in a foreign school does not meet this requirement.

      • Experience as a substitute does not meet this requirement.

  • Provide proof of valid certification in First Aid/CPR/AED/Certification â€‹â€‹

  • Provide proof of passing a 3 credit course in the Science of Reading Instruction from an AZED Approved Provider

​

  • Provide proof of passing a 3 credit course in Reading Instruction from an AZED Approved Provider​​​
